Why Remainder Cents Matter
A total does not always divide evenly to the cent. For example, a $1,000 total divided among three confirmed payers cannot be represented as three identical two-decimal payments. The calculator therefore creates a plan where some guests pay one cent more so the contributions add exactly to the complete total.
This prevents the common mistake of rounding every person independently and creating a total that is a few cents short or over.
